Tomato Sauce

Makes 3 1/2 to 4 cups

This is our trail spaghetti sauce recipe, we also use it over Grains and Patties. Tastes like fresh homemade.

• 1/2 cup tomato powder
• 1/4 cup dried mushrooms, sliced thin and chopped fine, or 1 cup fresh wild mushrooms chopped (optional)
• 1/4 cup dehydrated bell pepper (optional)
• 3 tablespoons tomato flakes (optional)
• 1 fresh onion, chopped, or wild green onions, sliced, or 2 tablespoons onion flakes
• 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
• 1 teaspoon oregano
• 1 teaspoon basil
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 garlic clove, minced, or 1/8 teaspoon garlic granules
• 1 6 1/2-ounce can crab, clams, or shrimp or 1/2 cup freeze-dried shrimp (optional)
• 1 tablespoon oil
• 3 cups water

Bring water and oil to a boil and add all ingredients except seafood. Cook for 25 minutes. Add seafood and heat through. Garnish with Parmesan cheese.

Variations: 1 small can bonita or mackerel or 1 cup freshly cooked flaked fish may be used instead of seafood.
One-Pot Spaghetti: simple add 1 cup extra water to sauce and drop in noodles when sauce comes to a boil.
