Chili Sauce

Makes approximately 3 1/2 cups

Serve over Grains, noodles, polenta, or Journey Cakes.

• 1/4 cup tomato powder
• 1 small onion, chopped, or wild onions, sliced, or 1 tablespoon onion flakes
• 1 tablespoon whole wheat flour, masa, or corn flour
• 1 teaspoon chili powder
• 1 teaspoon cumin, ground
• 1 teaspoon oregano, rubbed between the palms of your hands
• 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1 garlic clove, minced, or 1/8 teaspoon garlic granules
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 3 cups water
• 1 6 1/2-ounce can shrimp or 1/2 cup freeze-dried shrimp (optional)

Combine everything but the shrimp. Bring to simmer over low heat and cook 5 to 10 minutes. Add shrimp and heat through.
Variation: add fresh chopped wild mushrooms.
