Makes 1 Cup
A thick, rich gravy, strong in mushroom flavor.
• 1/4 cup dried mushrooms, sliced thin, chopped fine
• 2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
• 2 tablespoons milk powder
• 1 tablespoon freeze-dried chopped chives
• 2 teaspoons vegetable-seasoned broth powder
• 1 teaspoon parsley flakes
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon garlic granules
• dash pepper
• 1 teaspoon oil or butter
• 1 1/4 cups water
Combine all dry ingredients at home in small packet. In camp, mix in cold water and stir well. Bring to a boil, then move to low fire, stir well, and cook for 5 minutes longer. Cover, remove from heat, and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
