Serves two
A hearty soup, well worth the wait.
• 1/2 cup split peas
• 1/2 cup corn meal
• 1 onion, chopped, or 1 tablespoon onion flakes
• 1 tablespoon celery flakes
• 1 tablespoon parsley flakes
• 1 garlic clove or 1/8 teaspoon garlic granules
• 1 bay leaf
• 1 teaspoon cumin
• 1/2 teaspoon savory
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/8 teaspoon cayenne
• 2 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce
• 4 cups water
Bring ingredients to simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally. Cook 45 to 60 minutes.
